About us

Sophie's Sweets is a family owned business, based in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, founded by our 11-year old daughter Sophia in 2024.

 

Sophia wanted to have her own business, and her first attempt was making her own lip gloss with mom's help. The lip gloss business had a few recipes tried out with no real success with any of the tested recipes. 

Plans changed when we had a March Break trip planned to go to Brazil in 2024. Sophia's aunt Maria Estela makes and sells brigadeiros in her town in Brazil (@1mel_sabores). Maria Estela taught Sophia how to make brigadeiros and gave her recipes to us. We bought a pan that cooks and mixes the ingredients so that it was safer for Sophia to make brigadeiros as the ingredients boil (and splashes everywhere!) for a while to reach the right consistency.

 

Sophia's first brigadeiros were gifted to her teachers and staff at her school for Easter 2024. And our first time announcing Sophie's Sweets was a giveaway for 2024 Mother's Day.

 

Sophia's mom, Adelaide, helps with the management aspects of Sophie's Sweets and she is Sophia's partner. Her dad, Andre, is our backstage support, as he is always there when we need him.  Sophia's brother helps when we ask him to. One of her brother's new role is to create customized stamps for our brigadeiros! Mom and Dad are originally from Brazil and left Brazil in early 2000s.

We make brigadeiros for parties, gift boxes, and for corporate events. 

 

We put our hearts in our family business and for sure you will taste our love in our brigadeiros!!!!
